its a koolance 420.

For whatever reason my bclock WONT go over 221, fully stable at 221, but as soon as I put it to 222 it wont boot... :\\

yes, with TRUE 600W tecs, this thing would be sub zero even at 1.55V. (Not that it couldn't be right now, but I'd need to better insulate and get the loop temps down closer to ambient).

Fully stable during all tests... too bad bclock is wussing out on me, I'm sure this thing could go to 4.8ghz if it would only boot above 222 fsb. Only at 1.50V right now cause putting it to 1.6 doesn't get it to boot any better... I'm suspecting it might be ram... Going from 6 sticks (12Gb) to 3 got me from 214fsb to 220, then from 3 to 1 got me to 221...

not sure.

(cpu score is low, but no HT on)

BAM, finally.

Load temps are getting up there though lol, but its at 1.6V core and 4.83ghz! Idle temps are still down at 10ish.

yeah well that block still has head room if your running it at 8 volts... you just need better cooling .. do you have a graphics card in the loop too ?

When are you gonna take some pics of your rig ?

You know as far as im concerned you your the only person other than myself that has successfully TEC cooled a high powered quad .. congrats to you

booted it at stock voltages after an unsuccessful overclock attempt and forgot to turn down the TEC's lol. I'll have some money shots on Sunday cause I'm leaving in 20 minutes for the weekend. (I put the block on upside down so forgive me lol, says TEC on the top and US2 upside down). Also I had to solder the negative terminal onto one of the tecs as it fell off when I was installing it... the copper lead actually folded and snapped, but its working fine.




You sure those 52mm tec's wont fit? If you can get me a set of the 300W qmax tecs that would be great I'll swap 'em in and see how it goes. So far I'm very happy with the setup and it beats the complexity and size of a cascade very easily. (look at the price of a cryo-z or vapochill!)

Yes im sure those TEC wont fit .. im getting some of those 300 in . SO we shall see

Thundergosssssssssssssssh I envy your temps!

To get pass 221 bclk try raising your PCIE freq someone did it with his UD7.

yeah thx i got past it pci-e has to be at 108. I set it and right away it posted lol.

I think when I get back I'm going to configure the pump and fans/temp controller to run off of the power converter so I can leave the loop on without any power on the cpu... that way I can pre-chill and get some stable boots.

Anybody know what the ceiling for an d0 voltage is on the cpu? I had some prime95 stability issues at 4.83ghz and I wanted to up the cpu a bit but the next step is red lol. What vcore do the ln2 guys run? Fully stable at 4.83 would be nice, but a 5.0 cpu-z validation would be insane

The ln2 guys are using 1.6+ vcore on the 920. Check out Vivi on hwbot he got the same UD7 as we do and he's a top 20 overclocker.

5GHz is not insane with above ambient temp using your (should have been MY TEC block if I haven't gotten into some financial difficulties).

How much Amps you are using for 8v on those TEC's? Maybe I can save a little in the variable volt PSU and get one block from muffy.

at 8V they pull 23-25A.
at 10V they pull 33A
at 12V they pull 38A
at 13.8 they pull 41A

I usually leave it at 5V unless I'm doing stress testing, then I put it at 12V to keep temps below ambient.

I want to put the core to 1.65ish, is this do-able? i know the UD7 has more room left, I just need to put the voltage past 1.6V, I think it can push this i920 to 5ghz and the TEC's should keep full loaded temps close to the loop temperature. that would be approaching 450W of cpu heat though. (edit: its way over 450W).

Lemme look at some LN2 threads and see what kind of volts they're throwing at it.

Wow, at 4.935ghz, with the vcore at 1.62V the CPU spiked at 413 amps of current, that is ridiculous. That's almost 700W. It ran FPU stress for about 2 seconds before it hung and restarted... the loop was up to 49'C :|

I think I might need to look into a better rad...


Anyways, some testing of the block itself... these are reference at 2.83ghz vcore at 1.232 basically the warmest stock i7 you will come across (this chip will do stock speeds at 1.9V).




I think the CPU only reports down to -8'C internally... I see to see it stuck at this after a while even though typically two cores are about 5-6'C warmer than the others...
