Overclocking a Geforce FX5200

how do i overclock my vga?

i set the core clock frequency in nview to 290 but when i look in cpu-z it still says 8X

what do i do to get it more than 8x?

8X is the agp raste and 8x is the highest yuou can go so don't worry asbout it. The thing you want ti increase in the core and memory speeds, now just bump the core up by 3-10mhz and run 3dmark03 and if it goes through without any artifacts then just reapeat. When you finally get artifacts bump the speed down by 3-5mhz. Reapeat that whole process for the memory and there you have it an oc'd gf fx5200.
