AMD 3700 & A8N-SLI Prem

Thread Starter
Hi there,

I was thinking of upgrading my CPU the other day and then decided why not give overclocking a go whilst I wait for the M" Socket to arrive sometime mid 2006.

So I now have a 3700+ at 2.61Ghz stable running at 34 degrees [ 10x261 ]. What I am wondering is if anyone can give me a hand at uping that speed.

I`m currently running the AMD 3700+ on the Asus A8N-SLI Premium board using PC3200 low latency RAM and using the AKASA Evo 120 as air cooling.

If someone can either tell me how I could push my CPU more or give me a link or links to good O/Cing guides it would be much appreciate.

hey, sounds like you've got a decent system there. for starters please fill in your rig info giving make/model numbers

what kind of RAM do you have?
what are your voltages?
What do you have for a psu?
is that load or idle temp?

also make sure you lock your pci/pcie frequency at 33/100

Ok a little confused by what you mean lock my PCI/PCIE at 33/100, how do I go about doing that ?

I`m upgrading the GPU to a XFX 7800GTX in the next few days, just looking for the best online deal at the moment [ instead of upgrading the CPU which I`m actually very happy with ].

Basically just want to know if anyone can give me a hand at O/Cing my system a bit more.

Thanks.

Alright, thanks for filling out your rig info.

do you know what specific model Corsair RAM you have? is it regular 3200, 3200C2 or 3200XL?

and in the bios there will be a section probably under advanced (I can't remember exactly where) but there will be a line that says pcie frequency. make sure that is set at 100Mhz
and then there will be one that says agp/pci frequency. there will be choices like to cpu/66/33 and such. make sure you choose the 66/33Mhz one. (agp 66Mhz and pci 33Mhz... even though you don't have an agp slot it will probably still be there)

and lastly, what are your current settings?

htt:
cpu multi:

memory max speed:
memory timings:

and the temp you described is that load temp or idle temp?
