Probs w/ FEAR and BF2

Thread Starter
i just set up my new system w/ an amd 3700 san diego, a evga 7800gt vid card, abit kn8 sli mb, and a gig of ram. ok, first of all im scoring about a 7500 on 3dmark05 w/o any oc'ing. is that about right?

secondly, im having a problem w/ FEAR. my framerates will run fine(over 100) until i get in a firefight. they then drop dramatically and create a major slowdown. i understand that this is notmal but it gets really really sluggish. i just expected this card and cpu to run everything on high settings at pretty much all times.

anyways, if anybody has any commments or suggestions plz help me.

What settings and resolution are you running FEAR on? I run it on 1024*768, with pretty much everything else on except Soft Shadows, which I turn off as they kill frame rates. Have you got the latest patch for Fear as well?

No its not impossible... I run it fine at 1280 x 1024 everything highest no soft shadowing because ATI cards dont support it above a resolution of 1024 x 768... so .. yeah your guys computers must not be functioning properly if you have the specs you have listed

i am running it 1024x768 but i dropped it down to 800x600 also and tried it and still had slight problems. i dont have the latest patch as i just have installed it yesterday, but can that really help any?

also, was that 7500 score on 3dmarks acceptable?

Yep, your score is good. The slowdown might be due to your ram. For the very highest settings, you really need a bit more. Try turning a few features down such as texture, but I'd keep the res no lower than 1024*768 as your card can handle that no problems. Also, definitely get the latest patch and see if that helps. Just experiment with the settings to see what gives you the best performance.

Excuse me? I have an ATI card and I play at 1280X960. Don't spread false information.
