A year of work has come to fruition!
First, an explanation: I am a boarding student, it is the end of the year, so I have to pack up and leave, by Friday. Thus, I have to package the system up and ship it to the east coast the day after tomorrow, as I am effectively moving out.
Pulled another three hours of vacuum on the system, I cannot describe the pressure, as it dropped below the gauge measured.
I then charged without a load, I cannot recall the exact high and low pressures, but nothing stood out. The gauge showed 0" Hg on the low side when the system pulled down, I was too frantic to keep track of the numbers on the high and low side. I ended up adding 0.25 lbs of R507 (I had a scale available
I hit -44 C for a little while, which I am pretty pleased with. The temperature then drifted back up towards the -38C mark.
Tomorrow I will point a heat gun at it and add some heat, just to see what happens. The heat gun in question has two settings, 500W and 1100W. I am assuming less than one fifth of the heat will actually transfer to the evaporator though.
To me, the result is good. It means I will continue the project at my college (Olin), where I am sure they will have the equipment I need.
