I hate to be a downer but that was a total downgrade from a Toughpower to a Black Widow... The Black Widow is a low quality unit.

the tough power died after i went from 2 4670s to 2 5770s, couldn't power it, had the PSU tested and the rails died, gave thermaltake 1 last chance with this one, and its been working like a dream, 5 HDDs and 2 5770s, and 12 case fans, only drawing 688 from the wall. =) if this one dies tho after i get my new BD and 7 series cards ill be looking at corsair or another brand.

You had a faulty Toughpower then, those are quality Channel Well built units, usually PSH or modified DSG platforms, PUC platform for 1000W+. An 850W Toughpower should be able to power SLI GTX480s easily, and shouldn't even notice a pair of 5770s. Like I said, one faulty PSU.

Your system won't pull more than 400W. As for your TR2, if it's the Bronze version then it's a mediocre Fortron (FSP) unit. If it's not the Bronze version, then it's a piece of crap Compucase (HEC) unit that goes out of spec at 450W and fails outright at 550W.

Mediocre FSP unit, and not suitable for GTX580 SLI.

Is this a good version or a bad version?

Someone just posted the exact same link and I answered them.

Thank you for your quick reply. What would be a psu on the cheaper side that you recommend for GTX 580 x 2 in SLI?

edit:
I got that PSU at Frys and trusted the worker their about psu. I found out about all of your PSU threads after I got it and installed it. (Thank you by the way) You definitely cleared a lot of things up.
