Overclocking XFX 7800GT

Thread Starter
What do you think I could overclock an XFX 7800GT to with stock cooling? Currently I'm running it at 476Mhz/1.10GHz, and it's @ 39 C. That's idle..After a lot of gaming, I've never seen it over around 47 C. With what it's at now, would it be worth trying to overclock it much more? Clearly I'm a noob at overclocking.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814150124 That's the exact card.

Oh, sorry if this is in the wrong section.

I would go as high as you can go without overheating. That card looks SWEET! Use the Nvidia temperature moniter thing adn keep it up thhen run fear for say an hour go back to desktop really really quick then check the temp.

i got my PNY 7800GT at 488MHz/1200GHz, the fan that it came with is very unsufficient so it idles at 42c but i plan on getting a bigger fan for it or maybe some water cooling is in order.

................................
its funny that people spend more money on their hardware than games. then they have all that hardware but not enough money to buy the games the hardware was meant for.
...............
that statement is way too true, $1100 bucks on hardware and nothing to play, its a bummer all i have are some demo disc's from maximum pc and i only have 3 disc's and 1 of the discs has a BF2 Demo that i play constantly because its the only game that intrigues me enough to actually play it.

I'm not sure how much of a difference there is between the GT and the GTX; but my GTX runs fine even when up to 75 degrees C. I'm pretty sure you can OC it higher than 60 degrees C; when you get mid-to-high 70s is probably when you've done an optimal amount of OCing, and don't need to worry about overheating. That is, of course, if it is similar to the GTX.
