Common temps for a 7800GT? - Page 2

The Zalman cooler is nice but the reviews I read about it said that it isnt the best cooler for todays high-end cards, do to the large amount of heat the GPU and memory put out, I would say that sounds right, but I'm not entirely sure, I would becareful your memory doesnt overheat though...Zalman was said to release a new graphics cooler this spring.

WEll, believe it or not, the 7800GT's run a lot cooler than the 6800GT's and the x850xtpe's....so I wouldn't really think that would be an issue.

I have an XFX 7800GT and the Zalman VF700-Cu. I idle at 38-39C and max out between 50 and 55C. I would say that your load temp might be a bit high. Could be to several things:

1. Ambient air temp. (I live in North Dakota and my basement is kind of cold)
2. I used Arctic Silver 5 thermal paste
3. The cooler might not be seated just right.

Any one of those might be it, however I don't think 61C is terrible unless you plan on overclocking some more. The card will survive at that temp, but it's up to you if think it needs to be cooler.

Edit:
I checked my temps earlier and I guess mine tops out at 58C, so I don't think your 61C is so bad. I don't think it's too much to worry about.

hey, I don't have a Zalman cooler for my 7800GT, but I can tell you what my temps are. (well an aproximate as I'm not at my computer at the moment)

idle 40
load I've never seen it go past 60... but I don't monior continually.

I have the evga 7800GT CO. it has a copper heatsink and a gtx fan (more fins) so while it's a lot louder than my SLI 6600GT's it doesn't seem to get that hot either.
