You can add it manually to your sig.

The owner has been AWOL for a while so no one can add the people to the official list, but it is still active.

So, I just bought an i3-530. I have it Linux stable after 30 passes, but I find my particular setup to be a little finicky. It seems as thought my IMC doesn't like anything over 1200 mhz (2:6) divider on the memory. I tried looking for some tips to get it up to 1600 mhz, but to no avail-- I pushed the vtt up to 1.37 I was wondering what everyone else thought, weak IMC or just more tinkering needed.

Setup:

i3 530 at (200x20) 1.28 cpu vcore, 1.2 VTT
OCZ 1600 ram at 1200 mhz 7-7-7
EVGA H55
900 Watt PSU

I assume you meant LinX, as you are talking about stress testing your CPU, and not using an OS.

The IMC on my 530 is really flaky, and I also need to use the 2:6 divider to get over like 170blck. I've tried different RAM kits, and motherboards, so I know it's the IMC in the 530, same motherboard, same RAM, works correctly with my i7-860.

I have my i3-530 down at the moment, pending mounting hardware for my h50, but I don't think I ever found a way to run my RAM faster.

I'm jelly of all of you that can get great voltages/clockspeeds.

I'm having to pump nearly 1.46v for 4.3Ghz :C

I would really doublecheck either your settings, and if your mobo is good at OCing or not. To boot to 4.68 GHz on BIOS i needed that much voltage, and for 4.4 GHz i needed way less than that. Hell, i think i need only 1.40v to boot to 4.5 GHz

Well, it runs everything i ask for flawlessly, main reason i haven't switched to an i5 or i7. I might have to, i think it may be bottlenecking my GPU's, but i need to run more tests to determine that tongue.gif

I'll also jump all the way over Sandy, and skip directly to Haswell. I still haven't found (or i don't use) any application, be it gaming or distributed computing which makes me wish my CPU was faster. Most of what i use depends more on GPU muscle, and an SSD can make even a 2008 computer faster than any modern i7 with a HDD.

Also, me jelly, dat OC drool.gif

My 550 can boot @ 216 MHz FSB, but it will not always POST. Maybe i'm too chicken to give more juice to the IMC, but considering 1.4v seems to be the limit and now it's running at 1.375v, that may be it tongue.gif

EDIT: found that validation biggrin.gif

Oh man, nice OC on that 550.
For whoever wants to reach 4.5 GHz+ and is unable to do so no matter the volts you run, check your PLL voltage.

'Tis an old trick SB users perform to get the cpu OC higher and with a lower vcore. The aim is to get it as low as it can go (the lowest voltage you can make your pc POST). As no one answered my question on the SB Owners thread, i decided to test it.

My 550 wouldn't get 4.6 GHz stable even with 1.52v vcore and 1.70v PLL. I lowered my PLL to 1.175v, and i stabilized 4.62 GHz with 1.5v (15 IBT loops, 2 days of BOINC tasks and 6 hours of Skyrim/SCII), Plus, my suicide run was unbootable even at 1.7v vcore, and i could boot at 1.635v vcore when i lowered the PLL.

YMMV though, but i bet the PLL voltage can go as low as 1.4v with ease.
