I have officially moved over from my old AMD dual core to a brand new, awesome i3 530. There were some questions that I would like to ask:
1. Why does the stock Intel HSF suck so much? I'm getting about 38c idle and about 62c load temperatures.
2. I reseated the heatsink after applying AS5 to it and only noticed about a 2-3 degree drop from the stock Intel TIM. I am sure I have seated it correctly.
3. I have a P180 with all of the optional fans. Two intake fans and two exhausts. I should be getting much better temps then this.
4. I didn't spread the TIM this time, because I have heard the spreading is not the best way to apply TIM. I actually used the rice grain method: to apply a small amount in the middle of the cpu. I did clean the CPU thoroughly with Alcohol and I waited about 2-3 minutes before applying AS5.
Are these temps normal? I am using this i3 for an HTPC, but I wanted to overclock it at least to 3Ghz. I will definitely be purchasing a much better cooler in the future along with better TIM, but I am kinda broke right now.
Are these temps normal, guys? My 65nm chip had better temps than the new one.
Please help and thanks in advance.
