[Official] Gigabyte GA-790FXTA-UD5 Owners Club/Thread

Thread Starter

Welcome,
Here you shall find a thread of many things, here shall be discussed all manor of system settings, temps, bios settings, new drivers, high stable overclocks, system tweaks and anything else concerning this motherboard.
I will do my very best to keep this thread updated with any new information as it comes to light and the members/Top ten clocks list current. With help from other owners of this board, I hope to build a exceptionally informative database of knowledge aimed squarely at this board.

I have had my board for the last 2 days, so far I am really liking it. I had a small problem whilst trying to install windows 7 to the SB750 RAID controller, this was fixed by switching over the Marvel controller. I like the colour scheme compared to Gigabytes other offerings, the board does look the business.

Please feel free to share your experiences with the community.

Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
Either via Pm or left in thread.

Club enrollment
To be added to the members list, please post in this thread with a validated CPU-Z link and you must have your system information up to date (edit your system info here). Of course owning one of these boards is also a requirement.

Working on some requirements for this, I'm thinking something like 24hour prime stable screen shot, CPU-Z Validation. I may add another section will all current stable overclocks and only the top ten 24 hour stable overclocks will land here. It's still a work in progress. Comments and suggestions are always welcome, I want this club to be the best it can be.

If only you were running the 955 at stock I'd be able to claim the top spot on the clock speed list.

As far as the color scheme goes, that's pretty much what decided it for me. Needed to free up some money so I sold my i7 stuff and picked this up. Came down to deciding between a few mobos, so asked for the girlfriend's opinion and of course the pastel goodness on this one took the cake for her.

You can sign me up on the list.

No chip in the board yet, as I sold my old 965BE. I'm waiting for the triple cores to hit. Then I'm going to see how hard they can be pushed.

That's a nice looking board. color coordination is kind of like the GD70 but obviously with a different scheme...

How does it clock in comparison to the GD70?

Honestly, clock per clock the 790fxta is faster. I haven't isolated what it is yet, but it just seems like there is more bandwidth in everything. Even with that I still like the GD-70. It's a good board and the BIOS is much better than the 790fxta's right now. However, as far as balls out overclocking I haven't done that type of comparison yet.

From what I've seen, the UD5 is a better board for the most part. And it's got a young BIOS as it's only flaw.

Also, the older UD5P held up better under extreme situations than the GD70.

Is that a TOWEL you've put your board on ?

Ever heard of static electricity ?

Whenever not in the case, place it inside\\on top of your static bag.

Just some friendly advice.
