I haven't flashed a bios before, do I just download the f3f bios from gigabytes website and put it on a flashdrive?

Oh and my video card is a xfx radeon hd5850

Do you think its a bios feature? I probably won't be able to tell til tomorrow because I'm on my built computer now (instead of my laptop from the last post) and its running. I took out the RAM and tried 1 stick at a time, neither worked, so I did a system restore and it works on the last stick (1 total) I put in. But I'm guessing the system has warmed up now so even if it is the bios, I doubt I'll be able to tell.

Also I've heard win7 installs could be corrupted by bad RAM when first installing, should i reformat and reinstall win7?

Alright I'm gonna go attempt to flash bios now..wish me luck, not that I'll know if that solved the problem or not until I let my system sit for 8 hours when I can cold boot again

Haha, the way this things been giving me hell lately, deserves to get dumping into the Antarctic Ocean.

But just flashed my bios to F3f, it was successful I believe as my computer didn't blow up immediately after (..4 hrs later..BOOM). I put back the second stick of ram in where they were originally placed (DDR3_1 and DDR3_2) and booted up again. So now I figure I'll probably just turn this thing off and try again in about 8-10 hrs. Keeping my fingers crossed, I hope I don't have to RMA the g.skill memory and that the bios fixed the problem..

Booted up my computer with the new F3f bios after about 7 hours of letting the computer "cool down". I'm hoping that was enough to count as a cold boot, because I didn't get a BSOD or crash. Win7 started fine with no problems. I'll test again after letting it sit over night, hopefully the bios update was actually worth something for once..

Olender Did you run MemTEST to see if your Ram is stable? Please do this first as a process of elimination.

I've never run memtest but I will try doing it from a usb stick and see, I've heard I should run it for 7-8 passes to be sure? I tried booting this morning, and of course the F3f bios update didn't fix anything. I'm going to run the memtest and see if there's anything wrong. I'll also try 2 sticks of kingston hyperx 512mb ram I have from my old old system and see if those give me any problem.

What the hell, I downloaded the memtest usb installer, formatted and installed it onto my flash drive, then set my first boot device to USB-FDD and it just kept trying to go into windows normally (or in my case windows error recovery) I even tried setting first boot to USB-HDD and nothing.
