Air flow rule
In the bottom front and sides and out the rear!!!
You said you have 2 rears with 1 in and 1 out!
Set the top rears for out only and see hat you can do to add some incoming air in the front bottom!!!

I didn't recall saying the case ws 50 deg. Right now it's running 36 deg and the CPU between 48 and 49. A new case is in the making.

I had a problem with a 3400+ yes i know it,s nothing like the same core but the temps would not go blow 48 degrees idle even with water .The shop i bought it from didn,t believe me, so i bought another one just to prove to the shop it was faulty They took the older one back with there tails between there legs ..I would check the HSF and the thermal paste you have applied .Make sure you have cleaned the Hsf properly before adding the new paste .Then only add about a bb sized amount to the cpu and spread thinly and evenly .then check yoour temps. I there still high RMA the cpu

By the way if a hadnt been interested in O/CING then i wouldnt have noticed the problem as everything worked fine just the overheating problem ..Goodluck

I think you will find that in your first post you said that your case is at 49 deg so i rounded it to 50 so which is it 49 or 30ish.

If I read this right, you said your vcore on the CPU was 2.8V(is that even possible?)? That's way too high for 2400Mhz. With a 240FSB you shouldn't be over 1.5V on the core. That could be a big course of your heat. I think you need to go over everything you've done to overclock that rig. I have an X2 3200+ and I can get 2400Mhz on stock everything else.
