__Condenser Selection__
**Step 1: Estimate Condenser THR**
From Table 1 for suction cooled compressors, at +25Â° F (-3.9 C) suction and 115Â° F (46.1 C) condensing temperature, select a heat of compressor factor of 1.335.

THR = Compressor Capacity * Heat of Compression Factor

= 1,261 (BTU) * 1.335 (My compressor BTU at 300 Watt load)

= 1,683.4

**Step 2: Correct for Altitude**
From Table 3 obtain an altitude correction factor of 1.01 for 500 feet.

THR = THR (from step 1) * Altitude Correction Factor (design)

= 1,683.4 * 1.01 (My altitude factor)

= 1,700.27

**Step 3: Calculate Design Condenser T.D.**
Design Condenser T.D. = Condensing Temp â€” Ambient Temp

= 115 - 75 (My ambient)

= 40Â° T.D.

**Step 4- Convert the THR**
calculated in step 2 to MBH/Â°TD by dividing by 1,000 to get THR in MBH.

Then divide the THR by the design TD to get MBH/Â°TD.

THR (MBH) = 1700.27 / 1,000 = 1.70

THR (MBH/Â°TD) = 1.70 / 40 = 0.0425

**Step 5: Calculate Actual T.D. and Condensing Temperature**
The actual condenser T.D. can be calculated by dividing the design THR by

the condenser rating.

Actual T.D. = THR (Design) / (Rating @ 1Â° T.D.)

= 1.70 / .0425

= 40Â°F. T.D.

The actual condensing temperature is the actual T.D. plus the ambient

temperature.

Actual Condensing Temperature = (Actual T.D.) + (Ambient)

= 40 + 75

= 115 Â°F.
