Microsoft recommends ATI hardware for Vista - Page 2

I am very worried at this point, first of all i have always been running the best cpomputer in my school with the best os, well i dont think that is going to go on for too long considering how old and outdated my system is getting, number two sort of goes with number one...i dont have the slightest belief that my pc will be able to run vista wich i want, and number 3, WHAT AM I GOING TO DOOOO!!!!!

Edit: Oops im off topic here, yeppers i agree that it is very stupid, although i do like ati better. But you cant tell me that a 7800gtx isnt going to work good on vista, if so that is just stupid.

Yeah its all business. ATI pays Microsoft lots of money to put their card as the recommended card for the Vista. Just like how Nvidia pays game developers money to put their "Runs best on Nvidia" logo.

I take everything microsoft says w/ a grain of salt... their operating systems are kinda crappy and so full of bugs... It's a shame they basically own the market and thus we all just follow along like lemings...

Get UT2007 running on OpenGL and Fedora and you've got yourself another penguin right here. Until then it's WinXP for me. No worry, my imaginary friend "Clive" pays for all the copies I need. I love Clive.

DX9 cards will run DX10 games and Windows Vista but they need a software emulator to do so This is because MS decided that DX10 would not have built in backwards compatibility like DX9 did to DX8.1.

I wouldn't say so. Thats just the cool thing to say. Never had any problems with XP, and I imagine everyone who's built their PC's properly feel the same...

Just to inject some critical thinking into the discussion...

Just because a rag like the TheEnquirer says so, it doesn't mean it is true.

If they have a document - why didn't they post it in its entirety?

But to give the rest context (and I did not go to CES this year, so not clear on what MS was doing with Vista..)

In pre-release stages, Vista is not fully baked. If ATI happened to get drivers delivered first - so what? Just means that MS is saying that for Beta2, if you want to take advantage of features out of the box, go with ATI for now as drivers for nVidia may not be present.

And reading more into it than that is just inane.

We all know nVidia will get there before release.
