yes, do not buy expensive ram or motherboard if hes not overclocking. also dont do 6600gt sli. the 6800gs or 7800gt are good choices. and a stock 3700+ should be a good cpu.

It is not a matter of the best parts

but

It is a matter of getting the best parts for your dollar. Good PSU and RAM will award you with a nice performing system if suited to other components. Rather than having a incorrectly chosen and poor performing system.
