Source server problems

Thread Starter
Hi. I've got a problem whenever i try to start up a server on HL2M and CS:S. I start up the server as Dedicated:Internet, yet when I search for servers on either game, my server shows up as a LAN game, and my mate down the road cant find it even if he puts my IP adress in! Funnily enough, I can find his servers straight away. I have a wireless 512k connection. Thanx 4 any help.

Hey, first off dont say you'll rep people for help, so I edited that out. Do you have a router or a firewall? If so you need to open port 27015 in the firewall and forward the port 27015 in the router so that it can work. Go to www.whatsmyip.info to get your IP, after doing what I said above. Then give your friend your IP from that website so it looks something like:

69.72.32.123:27015

If that still doesnt work then reply back.

How do I open port 27015 in the Firewall and router? By the way, the link you gave me told me that my ip adress was 80.168.87.19 and my 'Belkin Wireless configuration utility', along with al my MP games, tells me that it is 192.168.2.5!?!?!

Thats the problem. The 192 IP is your internal network IP which only can be connected to from inside your LAN. Give him this and see if he can connect:

80.168.87.19:27015

Thanx. One more thing. Whenever I start up a server, it tells me my ip adress is the 192 one. How can I tell it that it is the other one?
