What sort've temps you getting on the card? Because no matter how many fans you throw on the stock heatsink can only dissipate so much heat.

Also do you have any RAM heatsinks? My stock HSF partly covered the RAMs on the one side so had to replace it with a new one and some ram heatsinks.

I did about 10-15 strokes (noticeably color change) on mine, though obviously the power plant is different.

my temps are fine, ive never seen my sapphire go above 50c and no i have no ram heat sinks. and i didnt put any fans on my heat sink, its a coller master heat sink, thing is just massive. almost doesnt fit in my case.
and i have a huge tower my cpu and mobo stay pretty damn cold and my mobo has a seperate heat sink on it besides the one for the cpu which i already told you is huge!

but, ive been trying to change stuff up a bit. i mounted a 4 inch fan on the back of my VGA and am testing it out right now! dont really know if it is going to help. its alot louder now i can tell you that! could it be my catalyst version 11.7, would do you use and now even when my clocks arent OC when i open my browser all the letters are all fuzzy cant get it to change either tried lowering the res and lowering the apperance of windows, and tried uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers and still didnt seem to fix it! god this is annoying its like the gods dont want me to be happy!confused.gif

i have no problems anymore! everything is fine now. just got a new psu yesterday. got me a 650 watt from my friend who needed a 800w for his new 6970. can overclock my CPU to 3.3 and have my GPU clocks at 960/1200 with stock heat sinks. am probably going to get a new one tho been looking and there not really that expensive so...... came into a little snag tho, i cant play games in a red lower than 1440x900 whats up with that.

i mean its no biggie because i dont play in anything lower cept 1200x720 but still when i put it to 720 or even lower it lagggs so hard that i can even move even with low settings but, when i put it to max settings and run it in a res like 1440 or even go to 1600 it runs with a 45 fps constant on AC:B/Fallout New Vegas. already reinstalled the drivers and the games! not to big of a deal tho not worried about it. just funky is all. very excited about the clocks tho, hopfully they stand out this time and i dont have to take apart my pc 5 times and put it back together. lol thanks again for the help courage. and by the way does your tray tools have probs clocking your ram? like when you hit apply does it go back to a lower clock but still at the high clocks! mine does for some reason! just wondering if i am the only one is all.

Got to about 1010/1240 relatively stable. Working on pushing my core clock up - but to do so I have to pull back on the memory clocks for some reason. Must find the best combination. For some reason I can push the core right to 1100+ but the benchmark scores steadily drop off the higher I go tongue.gif Obviously not enough power - also gives a little whining sound tongue.gif

Haven't had problems with ATI Tray Tools - started using it as well because my Afterburner started bugging out.

May also have hit a PSU cap - could really explain random instability especially when I restored my moderate CPU OC.

Not a problem - my pleasure. We should have a little OC'ing leaderboard in on the original post - just a small one.

yea if i go higher i get the whining sound also, the clocks are stable at a higher clock for both mem and cpu but the whining makes me a little on edge.

and i was thinking when ever i clock my mem with Tray tools to 1200 and hit apply the mem instantly goes to 600, so it cuts it in half! but when i open up CCC the current clocks are at 960/1200,

i also realized that ati tray tools cant control the speed of my fan! which is weird. any suggestions guys. should i uninstall CCC the only reason i use it is because of hydravision.

?????? kinda frustrating

oh and courage could you recommend me a good cooler for 5670, and maybe one that comes with ram heat sinks! for a price under $25 ??

Zalman VF770. I have it and it works really well. Only takes up the adjacent slot, which the stock cooler does anyway and comes with RAM sinks. I modified the stock cable so the new fan can be plugged into it - so I have regulated rather than only 5v or 12v fan speed.

Try updating Tray tools and drivers. Not sure why the drop to 600, try monitor the clock and see if they're running 1200 or 600.

Also thinking of getting a multimeter - scared that my core clocks are sitting at 1.3+

just did a few more shades ... lost count of it ... should be around 3 + 2 + 2

my pencil was blunt so I screwed up the first 3 shades on that tiny spot , did 2 more proper shades and loaded it back into the computer .... 950 bumped to 980 .... unstable 1000

sharpened my pencil and did 2 more sets (4 lines)
now it is 1000mhz stable in unigine & gtaiv & crysis2

not gonna try higher for the time being ... im scared my crappy pencil had overshot it above 1.3volt
the temps are getting wild to 68celcius after unigine heaven 2.1 benchmark .... 70celcius in crysis2 eek.gif

you guys are getting some ridiculous OC's

i heatsinked all the ram modules (thermal pad for the ones right under the stock cooler)

tried to pencil with HB (i couldn't find a b2), worked fine on 1 card but the other fell over immediately, so just rubbed them both out and went back to 850/1050 for crossfire.

max temps are high 40's playing crysis. i'm sure there is more in these cards but i'm on a kinda weak psu (530w) and i'm running XP, so i'll just have to wait and get win 7 then a better psu (something around 700ish)
