The first 5670 I had reached 1000/1200 at stock volts.... never got to volt mod it.

i got my TX850w today and had a spin with it

also grabbed a new 120mm akasa and slammed it onto the rear of the PCI slots to suck the air out of the rear grills of the graphics cards. there was a little noticable improvement but nothing incredible. frame was a little big so i sanded it down and stuck it right on there with insulating tape. same color as my case so doesn't look bad at all.

i was fooling around with furmark and i'm getting some really strange temps.

at first GPU1 rises to 60 and plateau's, followed slowly by gpu2, until about frame 3000 when GPU2 is about 10 degree's cooler than GPU1 (71,61) and suddenly GPU2 will begin to rocket and at frame 4500 GPU2 was pulling 77 degrees and GPU1 was slowly rising aswell at around 75-76, after that GPU1 plateaud perminantly but GPU2 kept rising and when i hit 80 on it i shut off furmark.

why does it suddenly jump off after seeming to hit a ceiling? =X

GAH it's so weird. clocks are still 1000/1000.

Definitely want to try my 5670 without volt mod to see how it'd go with ram sinks and better cooling. Might do it when I want to sell it one day but scared I won't be able to return to these clocks / break it next time.

I would rather run some benchmarks Uniengine Heaven, 3DMark 11/Vantage and that sorta stuff, I don't really see stress tests as demonstrations of "real-world" GPU usage.

100 is danger on the chip but it'll shut off then, just shouldn't be kept above 80-90 degrees for prolonged periods. Some GPUs handle over 100 easy, had a fanless 7600 that idled 45-50, loaded at 80-90 and thermal threshold of 125.

yeah i agree furmark is a joke really. Alien vs predator has always got my cards hotter than any other game i own, but even that only tops out at high 60's after 20-30 mins. furmark gets to high 70's under 5 mins =/

Actually just remembered now, not only is furmark not a real-world test but its also a stability test, just too see if your card is actually stable or is just gonna bomb out. Just run some monitoring software and make sure it doesn't sit above 80 while you play.

i just did that before i came here and read what you posted!

i played AVP for a mission (which is about 20 minutes) and GPU1 topped out at 71 but mostly stayed ~70 and GPU2 barely even came into the 60's the whole time.

not sure if its worth redoing the volt mod. theres always the chance you're giving it a bit too much voltage, more than you need for your clocks, and it's only adding to the heat production.

for me GPU2 is at perfect temps im very happy with them. but i wish GPU1 was a bit cooler. but that might be unavoidable. it might have the exact same volt mod but because of its position in the case it's not getting as much cool air so it gets a bit warmer =/

70 isn't that bad. Also, there's also a chance you just don't find the sweet spot again, either makes it too host or unstable, or not enough volts etc. Pity you can't get more on the memory side, might have to do with having 512MB (and if its not GDDR5).

recently I been getting screen lockups with l4d2 and dead island
it's vertical lines lilililililili of grey and other times slight brownish
sound still works but there is no VPU recovery so I have to press the power button for shutdown

the 2 games do work fine with stock 775 clock
so these 1000+ voltmod might not be stable with all applications

sure that's not memory? core too high is usually a black screen. 7 in my experience never ever VPU recovers
