i think what happens is core has priority on volts so when it's being taxed sometimes it steals some mem volts which cause mem overheat.

it's weird i know but the other day i turned down my NB volts in bios and ran MEMTEST86+, getting an error after 10 hours.

when i asked the guys at mushkin, they said volt starved memory is likely to error but theres nothing wrong with the chips. sure enough i turned up volts again and no errors appeared next time.

this is really start to get on my nerves now

i want to know why on earth GPU2 seems to hit a ceiling, and then after a while just jumps up a crapload of degrees.

is the fan shorting out or something? i can't see any difference in the fan speed?

it only happens on 1000/1000. testing it on stock it stays alot cooler than GPU1 the whole time, and on 850/1050 it is virtually neck and neck. stable for ages on furmark.

well i decided to fool around and in a bit of frustration i may have rubbed out a mod too hard and unseated a resistor.

theres nothing visabley unseated but the graphics card is quite cool yet even when set in the GPU2 slot its not booting. just a flash of light from the fans and then off.

have to disconnect/reconnect power to give it another shot.

i'll try again tomorrow morning but if not i'll have to try and RMA it. =[

Ouch man :[ really unfortunate. Good luck with RMA, fortunately here in South Africa we don't deal with manufacturer's and RMA (because it would involve shipping to Taiwan/Asia) so we usually return it through the suppliers/retailer and they replace it.

Half the time I forget to set my clocks up, leaving them at stock low power 157/600 and wonder why a game lags but otherwise usually just play BF2 or CS:S which works at those clocks

Just wanted to stop by and say I just got this card. It's awesome and I am really enjoying it so far. The crappiest thing in my system now is my processor smile.gif

I was attempting an overclock with Sapphire Trixx, but then it caused my primary monitor in my dual display setup to start flickering pretty bad when i would move my mouse or click on things. So I uninstalled and re-installed the drivers, and luckily all back to normal.

I'm leaving it at stock clocks for now. The arctic cooler on mine is pretty nice and quiet.

ok guys! just had a lan party with 6 of my friends and there RIG's and every single on of them has a higher GFX than me and a couple of them have better cpu's as well and one of my friend has a 6970 2gb with an i7 at like 5ghz but thats besides the point!

one of my friends has a 5770 1gb ddr5 from xfx and he has overclocked his to the max without drops in frame rate and shortage! and 1 model lower cpu then me he has the 7750 BE and not the 7850 BE athlon which is clocked @ 2.7 instead of 2.8 and he has his OC to 3.3. so basically the same damn processor same 2mb L2 cache and everything! has a better case and a the exact same hyper n520 cooler ok!

alright we started out eating pizza and drinking beer then onto some vidya games! we all started out with some cod 4 mutiplayer then moved on to some nazi zombies in black ops! and then it got intense when we started dead island which my card hates to run while being overclocked for some reason! i think its because of the L4d2 engine it has! Idno but the game runs pretty well at max settings and when i mean pretty well i mean it stutters only when surrounded and just barley! so i turn down the shadows! runs perfect at stock cores of 800/1000 with max fan! got tired of that game tho. but again im rambling, me and my friend with the 5770 started playing some deus ex i transferd my verison to him and downloaded a COUGH*crack*COUGH he ran it and he also has ATI tray tools and it has the perk of having the fps ticked in the top right corner and he was actually getting 2 to 5 fps slower than i was on high settings. now i know that the 5770 gets better benchmarks but i gotta tell you guys i think the 5670 hates benching while being overclocked i think the real performance is actually being in a game with a custom engine! like i said dead island hates a OC card just like l4d2 and CS:S does and i bet certain other engine hate it too! i know oblivion hates it and vindicus deff hates being ran on a OC card! i know that i get ****ty benches because of my cpu but i gotta tell you there isnt a game out there that my rig cant runn on medium to high settings mostly high settings! and most games that run like crap at first like brink did! all i had to do was update the son of a ***** and it ran like a champ!

i wouldn't push this card too far now! but i gotta say my gfx dont look any different from a 5770 which is almost 70 bucks more and takes alot more power to run! i think i am going to by me a new mobo and another one of these sapphires 5670 and CF these little demons so i can be set for the years to come! which will only put me back about $120 if that! love this card and love sapphire! best gpu's ive used. of and trixx has a setting where you can start the overclocks when your start different games! loading a profile pretty sure you all have herd of it! yeah that **** doesnt work for me for some reason so i have to specifically set my clocks to each game i start! frustrating at times but w.e not a big deal!

Good to hear you're enjoying the card

I'm really sad to say this BUT it seems while I'm upgrading my system to Sandybridge, already have a Biostar TZ68A+ motherboard, and an i5-2500K is incoming I grabbed a great deal on a Gainward GTX460 768MB 192-bit GDDR5 card - BUT the run I had with this card has been really really fun and enjoyable and is perhaps my first very serious overclock and is certainly memorable.

BUT BUT BUT chances are I won't sell the card and let it jam out it's extreme clocks inside one of my brother's computers.

AND AND AND I will still be frequenting this thread, I'm still subscribed to instant email notification to see how you guys are doing And might still play around with the card further. And I'll still pop round to give advice, congratulations and such. Still also need to provide those multimeter readings I promised Also this overclock will not be complete until I can see what can be squeezed from heatsinking the VRMs and caps, getting more volts, and possibly throwing some LN2 (Liquid Nitrogen) or DICE (Dry Ice) on it (got a friend who does that sorta stuff) - things could get smokey ^__^

Try running Crysis 1 and you will see the difference between 5770 and 5670
but for every other game out there, 5670 is great.
