new psu. does size really matter?

Thread Starter
in my dell (yeah.) i have a 305watt 12volt at 18 amps.

looking to get a more powerfull (hopefully cleaner) psu so that i can add more fans and a newer, overclocked x850 ( i have a x600 atm) without having to worry about power.

i was told that my relatively new model (2 weeks old) has the form factor connectors now and that basically any psu should fit my motherboard as long as it has the 24 pin connectors.

SO! my question is. what's limiting me in my purchase here.

Size? or some sort of connector i dont have...

(ahem... NOOB)

thanks.

i'm more interested in a GOOD power supply as i'm hoping to eventually change my mobo for something a little more open to tweaking.

I would suggest this. If you want to spend a little more for the bling factor, buy this.

thermaltake butterfly. 480 watts and it has a cool little light show and a removable window on the side of it. and the fans in the back you can see it spinning because the light shines through

and the fan automatically adjusts itself, for some reason mine never speeds up. prolly because i'm using a venice core and integrated graphics. oh well

yeah. and it overclocks nicely and comes with really cool cable sleeving that looks sweet in a neon cathode tube

This psu right here is what to get its the best one for the dollar in my oppinion dead silent(as in what ever I do I can never hear it one tiny bit). Very good rails and high amps for the price. Was plenty easy to set up with the nice connectors.
