Review my AMD gaming build please - Page 2

Short stroking I would look to have a much smaller partition of about 30-40gb for the OS as the first partition. as this is physically on the outer rim of the HDD is is the fastest part of the HD. The Samsung f1 500gb is a good choice for a HDD; its single platter if memory serves.

I would think of a cooler to go with the build. I use a HDT1283 which is very nice but only points up/down on an AM2/AM3 mobo so will hang over the first ram slots. If you have blinged up ram it may not fit. Check out frostytech for some choices.

Unfortunately I have to go with some of the above; an i5 750 may be a better choice in this budget range. if you OC your 965 to 4ghz it will start using more power than a i7 at 4ghz. You can save on a cheaper case, PSU and the 955 C3 and 720 are good choices. I think the mobo could also be trimmed to save some money unles syou are really overclocking.

He has a $1600 budget. I'll be back later I need some sleep, but I'm sure people will build you a nice system for $1600, along with getting the best bang for your buck. But if you're not trying to spend all that and save some for upgrades later, let them know, because this is OCN and we ALWAYS go over budget.

It's a gaming build o_o

A single 5770 is considerably weaker. 4 GB of ram is enough for any game on the market lol.
wasn't saying to go with 8 gigs but with 4 1gig sticks. the 5770 may it be weaker but my 4770 will take on anyhting you through at it specially the games he listed at max and not even flicker you knwo sometimes stronger isent always best

It's better to go with 2x2gb rather than 4x1gb.

Buying better ram will help you to overclock that amd system, try for the 1600 if you can that way you can hit a nice bus speed and be in between 1333 n 1600.
What is short stroking? I bought a 500gb, single platter harddrive...

Please explain

He is right, his 4770 wil max those games.. unless he plays on 1920x1080/1200.
