Cool Idea with the Externally mounted H50,although why not keep them internal, you can fit the 2x120mm fans and top mount the PSU.
I'd have to try to envision the way the radiators would work without blowing the hot air that comes out of them into the case. It might be very easily done, but then my mind isn't the sharpest at the moment. I've been awake for too many hours and busy with other things.

I may just let my subconscious work on this as I take a power nap.

In the meantime, I have some interesting new bling toys to mount to the case. I just barely got the package from the UBT (Ugly Brown Truck) and opened it up. I'm gonna have a tiny bit of tedious wiring to do to make these things work. I did a quick update of my build diary and now I think it's time for a tired old man to rest.

Edit: Now I went and done it. I started thinking. If I mounted the H50's radiators inboard, I might be able to duct the hot air out the back at the bottom where the PS is currently mounted. If ambient temp air could be brought in and blown across the radiators without 1) restricting the airflow thru the case and 2) without adding too much heat to the other inboard components, it might work. Now I'll go see if I can envision a ducting system like one used to cool a race car's brakes.

Just set the fans to exhaust,ie. With the logo of the fan looking at you once it's installed. That way the hot air from the rad will get exhausted out of the top of the case.If you want more aiflow, use 2x120mm fans in a push pull configuration.I'm on my iPod so posting links ain't the easiet thing for me to do but if you google "corsair H50 push pull" you will see what I mean

Very quick update: It's ALIVE!

I'm updating the build diary while it downloads a driver for the Radeon video card...I know I had the DVD around somewhere, but it musta grown legs and wandered off.

Btw, it boots in 15 seconds. I love that one.

Well, this thread has gone places! Nice front panels. Definitely one of the beastliest computers on the forum. Possibly has the most raw processing power as well (not to mention RAM).

Way to stray off the beaten path. :3

We'll see how much power it has when I get another disk drive in there...and I gotta flash the SSD with the new firmware and make the video card and sound card work and....we ain't done yet...but it was sure nice to see it fire up without any smoke or flames or unpleasant stuff like that.

All factors considered, it really went pretty well. I think I'm gonna treat myself to some sleep tonite.

I thank those for the applause, etc. Just a matter of bein too dumb to know when to quit.

First benchmark report: wPrime 32m. Before mentioning any numbers, I'll note that my current workstation (Intel dual-core 3ghz, 2gig ram, XP box) ran it in 84 seconds and change.

I had to blunder thru disabling User Control and when I rebooted (I love those 15 second reboots...I think I'm in love, too) it ran in 16.34 seconds. That makes it 4th fastest of the reported scores. I guess I'm gonna have to jump thru the hoops and get that one reported.

From 84 to 16 is kinda impressive.

And I haven't started tweaking.
