Worlds Greatest Shave - Leukaemia Foundation

Every year between 11th to the 13th of March the Leukaemia Foundation of Australia holds the "Worlds Greatest Shave"

Participants in this event can either shave their heads or colour their hair. I choose to colour my hair. In the lead up to this participants aim to raise as much money through sponsorship as they can. All funds go to further research into this awful affliction.

That is where you come in.

If you can click on the link below and sponsor me :-) I will be sure to post photos once I have coloured my hair. All donations are tax deductable (in Australia at least) and donations from overseas are also welcome. Any little bit helps so if you can give please do so.

Its a worth cause.

Im not sure what the rules are in regards to this sorta thing so if I have broken any I do apologize.

I remember a few years back Heatcote high school (sth sydney) raised $20,000+ dollars. for this cause. it was the largest single amount received by a school and made the front page of the daily tele.

bosco college (private school not far from heathcote high) was also on the front page but for the reverse reason. It told all students they would be suspended or expelled from the school if they coloured or shaved their hair because it was against school dress code.

I guess private schools have to keep a strict dress code, but this is for a good cause...

Qualified as a "fadish hairstyle", and, unfortunately, parents have several motivations for sending their kids to private schools like this one, one of which being a, frankly stupid, notion that if everyone looks the same nobody will be singled out (sorry- it doesn't work, people will single you out for anything they can find, it's life, get over it, it's not gummy bears and roses /endrant). Anything that would individualize the individual would not fit within the mold that the paying parents expected when they wrote their tuition check for the year.

Back in elementary school (public school, mind you) some kids started wearing those gummy-band bracelets, similar to the lance Armstrong yellow one (though don't think that was out yet) anyway, the school banned those because they thought it was gang-related (somehow, some way and I'll never know what goes on in their minds but someone came up with the idea that kids were wearing those bands in certain patterns to secretly pass messages and threats to other gangs, and to indicate what gang they were in- there um... were no gangs in that school and I think through all of elementary school there might have been one fight- but go figure!) They also banned hooded sweatshirts for the same reason. Point is- it happens everywhere, it's stupid, but, there's not a lot you can do.
