Question about Cooling...Again

Thread Starter
Well I bought OCZ thermal compoung and put it on my GPU, bought a case with 3 fans (Rear 120mm Exhaust, Front 120mm Exhaust, Side 80mm Intake) and my temps still run around 40C idle, 70-75C load.

Did I just not put enough OCZ on my GPU or what? I've done everything to try to cool this but its just not happening!

The front 120mm fan should be an intake. That may help your temps a little bit.

Switched it, and nothing changed. Is my card running too hot? Or is it ok?

Your loading temperatures is very similiar to my X850 Pro w/ Stock cooling..
I don't think it's safe running at these temps but It not totally lethal though...

With thermal compound, there's a fine line between best performance and too much. Also, make sure that you spread it out and take off any thermal pads on the HSF itself. Personally, I would have gone with Artic Silver, but this stuff should be alright.

Thermal Pads? I'm not sure if I saw any of those...

What are they and where are they located exactly?

And also, I heard a general rule that if your playing a game and you don't see any artifacts, your card is running at a reasonable temp. Is this correct?

Yes that's true, but for most of us here, we like having nice cool systems running. Your temps are fine at where they are. You shouldn't have to worry about them until they start getting into the 95+ area.
