K8V SE Deluxe - fasttrak thingy

Thread Starter
hi

i have this board and have to drives plugged into the ide channel like normal

then i read up a bit and found out the board has a fasttrak for drives an an array

so i plug my drives in to the blue slot
then run it
comes up drives found cntrl F to enter fast build
so i do this and create a 2 drive arry.

- though when continues to boot up i get a read disk error
does not go any further

so i plug them back in as normal into the ide channel and everything boots up

just basically 2 questions

1. would putting my drives in this be any faster / better or is it pointless - ie whats the benefit of doing / having it

2. is the reason for the disk error down to i would have to reinstall windows after creating the array ?

im totally lost here
any help mucho grasias.

the king of amd mobos its says ?
then i find out you can o/c it very well as it has no pci agp lock.

might bin this and stick in an msi platinum ?

that fasttrak thingt is for RAID either 0 or 1 / stripping or mirror i think thats what there called i have it set up on RAID 0 for better performance. and if you want to set this up you will have to reinstall windows and set it up when you boot from your windows CD it will ask you if you would like to set up third party scsi or RAID controller push F? i forgot , then you will need to have a floppy or something ready with the RAID driver installation to complete.
