unlocking more pipes? And overclocking x1600xt - Page 2

The 830 runs at 3.0 Ghz.? Is that right? Well anyways dual core processors don't do much for games YET. If your temps are ok why don't you try to clock your cpu up to 3.6 to 3.8 just be sure to keep load temps under 65C I'd say you'd see a big boost in games.

ok well i might change it for a x800 gto 256bit is that a good choice?

Man I'd take the X1600XT over the X800 any day of the week. Yea the X800 and the 6800 GS are 256 bit but the XT has much higher clockrates that make up for that. It also is a newer generation of card and has Smart Shader 3.0 which the other 2 cards don't have.

Err.. Wrong. The X800 does have SM 3.0, the 6800GS does. And also the 6800GS does beat the X1600XT in almost if not everything. The 6800GS for PCI-E has the same performance as a 6800GT or 6800Ultra depending on the maker of the card (XFX and Leadtek have the highest clocked versions equal to a Ultra). The X1600XT isnt meant to challenge the 6800GT or Ultra though. It may have a high clock speed but its not enough for the card to beat it..
