help making a few cathodes plug into outlet

Thread Starter
I bought a new bigscreen for my office and I was gonna backlight it with some cathodes using my pc but I want to just plug them into the hidden outlet behind the tv

anyone know of a site to get 22-28" cathodes or led that use 120v? or know where I can get an adaptor

you can use pc ccfls if you get a 12v dc converter to plug into the ac outlet, then wire the dc12v output to the ccfl ac inverter. should be able to juice two ccfls from one 12v dc feed

Check at an auto-parts store such as advance auto; quite a few of them carry underglow neon kits that have longer tubes than those for PC. the underglow kits would also use 12VDC, as said before you can easily get a wall adapter for that.

Here is your adapter, or you could make on your self with any old 12v adapter like this you have lying around, cut the end off, and then splice in an old molex connector from an old power supply.
Here is a pic to do it your self:

Note you will need a Female molex connector: \\
(This type) VV

As said above you will probably only be able to power about 2 cathodes per power adapter.

Just notice i got my wires swapped, take the black (+) wire coming from the transformer, and that should go to the yellow wire on the molex connector. And the white, or whatever color wire it is (-) from the transformer and connect that to the black wire from the molex.
