550$ Max Gaming Build! Need some suggestions - Tough Choices!

Hey guys! I had another friend come to me and ask me to help him with a gaming build. He and I are going to be ordering all of the parts from www.newegg.com and putting the PC together ourselves and would like you guys to help us out along the way. First of all the computer is going to be for gaming and gaming only. He would really like to be able to play CODMW2, and Borderlands without any lag. We have been looking around at some configurations and we are finding it hard to stay within the budget. It would help us a TON if you guys could throw together something that would be a nice gaming computer but be within 550$~. He needs EVERYTHING besides for external parts like mouse, keyboard, monitor, etc..
Cheap, decent looking case is fine. The internal hardware is more of the concern such as a good video card.
The computer he has now has a has 2gb of ram and a Nvidia 9400GT and a AMD 4200+ 2.2GHz processor in it. So anything you guys can come up with that will run better than that for around 550$~ would be lovely. We are trying our hardest to mix and match all of this hardware to see which would be the best set up but figured we would come here to ask for help as well!!!

By the way - once we do decide on the PC we want to order we WILL be doing a build log and posting plenty of pix here.

heres an efficient one

cpu: AMD phenom II x3 720 BE $105
mobo: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO $85
case+ psu combo: Antec 300 + Antec Plus 550w continuous 80+ $110
gpu: Sapphire HD 5750 $135
ram: G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600 $85

That gives $520 all with free shipping and some rebates wil lset you bac kto less than $500- but i think it's up to him how many gbs he needs for his hard drive ;D

The reason i made the build with these parts is because they are all pretty much a good foundation for upgrade.
-ddr3 ram
-2x pci-e 2.0 slots which means future cfx
-this antec 550w possibly might be able to scrape though to power crossfire 5750's - but it's a high risk so maybe if you take out the motherboard and the psu + case combo and replace it with
mobo + psu combo: ASUS M4A785TD-V EVO + OCZ StealthXStream 700w $150
and case: Antec 300 $60
rest of the stuff $325
all = $535 and i believe there are rebates as well which get you down to maybe $510 or less (again without hard drive ==)

good luck on the build for your mate!
