Arctic Cooling Nvsilencer 5 Review *with Pics*

I was looking at my cards temp the other day and noticed that the temps were at 66 IDLE! So i went and picked up an Arctic Cooling NVSilencer 5 Rev,3.0. I will be installing it on the eVGA 6800GT. It was packaged very well and this is what the packaging looked like.

The Package

I opened it up and set my hands on the massive cooler.

The Components

The installion was fairly simple. All you need to do is remove the stock cooler, wipe off the old thermal residue, put on the new cooler, screw it on, and you're done. The cooler comes with preapplied thermal pads and compound.

The first thing i noticed after installion was how big this thing was! Here are some pics so you can see the difference.

Stock Cooler

NVSILENCER 5

I immediatly noticed that the temps were way lower.

Stock Cooler
IDLE: 66c
LOAD: 78c

Stock Cooler(With the card OC'd to 400/1300)
IDLE: 70c
LOAD: 81c
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
NVSILENCER 5
IDLE: 55c
LOAD: 62c

NVSILENCER 5(With the card OC'd to 400/1300)
IDLE: 58c
LOAD: 68c

This is a great product and i recommend it to anyone that is using the stock 6800GT cooler. It took quite a few off my idle temps, and a bunch off of my load temps. I currently have the card OC'd and its at lower temps then it was at stock speeds on the stock cooler!

PROS:
>Effective and quiet cooling solution
>Not very expensive ($31 at frozencpu.com)
>Looks cool
>Preapplied thermal pads and paste
>Blows air out the back of the case, not back into it.
>6 year warranty

CONS:
>Takes up two slots.

I also run this cooler. Only reason I like it so much, it b/c the fan is situated on the other side and blows the hot air out of my system instead of back into it.
