Hey, who says you can't buy a bit weaker and then overclock the RAM
Apparently this is what Mushkin did with 996629: Stick 1333mhz RAM onto modules, overvolt, overclock, specify 1600mhz timings and sell
still works well though; my RAM has been chugging me along for over 5 months
Depending on the RAM chips used, it might be able to overclock to 7-7-7-21 with a voltage increase (different RAM can tolerate different voltages: mine can tolerate 1.95v or maybe even more with no sweat, while most others don't go above 1.7v before crapping out on you). Some RAM uses the same chips as higher ranked counterparts however the SPD has been altered to run the RAM at lower voltages and timings. This kind of RAM may overclock the best for you.Edited by xd_1771 - 1/29/10 at 11:07pm
