3200+ Barton to OC on a NF7-S v2.0. Suggestions?

Hi everyone. Hey its been soo long since I overclocked but I have the gear to do at least a little and havent yet with my setup....not since the Pentium III 600 I had...... Hopefully someone will get enthusiastic about it with me. I'm not totaly foriegn to the Bios etc. I wont be too difficult to help. Would really appreciate a hand. I have been Googleing for hours.... I simply upped the FSB already to 220 and left most everything else as is and I got and currently have 2425.5Ghz and it seems ok. The bad is that the DRAM timing went to 3-3-3-6 ...thats slowed quite a bit. I'd like a balance without sacraficing much ram speed. Do I now lower theFSB as I try and raise the multiplier? I havent seen that the multiplier changes... I tried earlier - Eevrest said it was still x11 ...so it's probably locked. Is the system bus safe for components with this FSB so high? Full of questions and interest but done reading for tonight. Any replies appreciated and especialy those of you with alot of experience. Thank you.

WELCOME to the Forum

That RAM should do those speeds (220) no problem!!!
Up the vdimm to 2.80-2.85v and set the RAM timings manually...
Try 2-3-2-6 up to about 218 and 2.5-3-3-6 to about 240Mhz.
Yes, the system is fine provided you have the ful load temps under 55c but you will have to increase the vcore to help the CPU along as you push it further.
Yes, the 3200+ were all locked.

Schweet system by the way

Theres an Unlocking guide by our former member, POGE. Welcome to the Fourms btw, we have similar systems, but mine is clocking higher, with a crappy video card.. lol =P

Thank you. Learning the site navigation still and searching... bed soon. Looks like I'll try and unloack this.... I do have one of the Bartons with a 333Mhz fsb ...maybe I should experiment with that one ..either of you see potential with that one? What are the possibilities of an unloacked 3200+ Barton I wonder. I need to find out what "pins" the guys used instead of Gray Pencil and what is "Gray Pencil"?

Thanks for the compliments on my system. I tried to build one that was well rounded. The video card was the best at the time... I simply cant keep up on those at 500.00 a pop ... not for another 3 years at least (graduation).

I hadnt planned on overclocking. I also have an original Thunderbird 1.133Ghz 266 FSB and ...green looking ...to play with. I'll throw my old Hedgehog heat sink and one of my loud-as-a-jet Global Win fans on that one and see where I can get it.

sleep. night

Its been a while!

I'm upgrading my system soon to the 64/PCIe platform...

I'd unlock this thing IF I could find those pin instead of using the pencil ...I know, I know ..it's picky.

Hey guys... I never OC'd this and kept it there.

I had a question about increasing the vcore.

I did get the 2425Ghz but now not sure where I had the vcore.

How much and what incriments? .25?

Thank you.
