OK great.

I just looked and sure enough, all the AMD boards are 400mhz DDR boards so as far as a AMD mboard is concerned, the DDR 500mhz RAM is for overclockers.

OK I think I now know what I need to do.

Now I need for figure out who makes the DDR 2x1gig sticks for overclocking.

So far it's between Gskills and OCZ.

OK so if I m running on an Asus A8V which supports ddr400, can I buy 2 ddr533 sticks and get on a 1:1 divider so I can push the fsb to 266x9? I mean if that works like that then I d really rather buy some faster ram and replace my value ram cause I know its holding me back.

I think the 533mhz stuff doesn't work well in most amd boards.

I think the 500mhz is the stuff to buy.

If I was you I wouldn't waste a dime until you do something about your videocard.

You'd be better off putting money into that first.

Im ordering a 6800gs as soon as I see more than a few unlocked so I know which to get. It s lookn like the evga though at the moment. Just needed to get on the other side of Christmas before any adult cash was freed up. I was thinking about filling the board with ram but now I believe that a 2 gig kit of some 500mhz stuff will let me open up to the systems potential. Hehe my vid card is kinda run on hampster power isn t it?

I am currently running 4x512 mixmatched pairs at 333mhz, 2T mode, 2.5 CAS with 2-3-3-5 timings, keep in mind this is 400mhz ram.

Would I really see a noticable performance gain if I sold the current RAM setup and bought a match pair of 2x1024 and shoot for 400mhz, 1T mode, 2 CAS at around 3-4-4-8??

Would I even have a chance of getting the new RAM to run at those numbers?

I am sorry, but I was wondering if you have tried to set your memory to 400mhz? I have seen more than a few mother boards that auto set to 333mhz when 4 sticks of memory are plugged in, but when manually set to 400mhz they work just fine. Heck my soon to be old mother board (Neo plat 2) even did that. It would auto to 333 but the RAM was DDR400. I just had change it.

Ya I forgot to update you guys.

I actually made a mistake about my RAM running at 333mhz.

I'm using a divider in the bios and using clockgen in windows for my overclock.

So in the bios sure it says 333mhz, but after I apply my overclock I have
4x512 mixed match valueram @ 212mhz(DDR425) 2.5-3-3-5 2T.

I get 5125 MB/s in sandra with this current RAM setup.

I'm actually impressed with how my mboard is dealing with this ram. All sticks are rated at 3-4-4-8 @200mhz but somehow I have them running at the clocks above.
