extra stick, will it work?

ok i currently have 4 gb of ram. 2 sticks. now will adding an extra stick of 2 gb mess up my ram config? cause their would be a slot empty? if not would i get better performance with 6 gb of ram?

Better add 2 sticks of 1 gig each, 1 2gig stick will probably not work.

If you're heavily overclocked, more memory sticks might decrease your overclockability.
If you're not having performance issues with 4 gigs, adding another 2 gigs won't make a difference.

It depens, most of the time its fine it just wont be run in dual channel. Try it.
