Can the GFX Card raise temps in Cooling Tubes??

Thread Starter
I am asking that because I have a BIg Water and a Aquabay M2... and I was still getting the same temps... then i've made some loop changes and I've changed my GFX card to one I wanted to fry (GForce 4MX 440) then i turn on my computer and my temps are as low as 32ºC!! 5ºC down than normal!! then i install again my 9600XT and i come back again to 35/38ºC idle...

SO i was wondering as the tubes pass near the GFX Card, if the heat caused by it would have some thing to do with this...

Please answer if you know
Thanks.

Hi Pacman,

In a word, No. The difference you are seeing is the watts being consumed and then converted to heat by the GPU. The GF4 Mx440 runs at 270/275 Mhz on the core Vs the 9600XT running at 450/500. On nVidia's web site the MX440 uses about 30-35watts and the 9600XT uses roughly 35-40watts. The MX440 has 29 million transisters on a larger core (.15um) vs 75 million transisters on a smaller core (.13um) for the 9600XT. More transisters, smaller die size = more watts = more heat.
This increase in wattage/heat is what is being reflected in your temps.

BTW- 35/38degC at idle isn't bad at all...

The bottom line is that the 9600 runs hotter than your Geforce, which is whythe temps are different. Though, as buick said, your temps are just fine.

depending on the amoutn of heat that your system outputs into the water, the temperature that the system reaches equilibrium will vary

so when you put in a card that outputs less heat, you have less heat going into your loop, and thus the water runs overall cooler, giving you cooler temps on your CPU

If your GFX card isn't actually part of the loop, i really don't think there should be a 5 degree delta between that horrible MX and the 7800.
