Installing and OLD copy of HL1 into Steam

How?

I have a very old copy of HL1, Opposing Force and Blueshift. I tried installing it before and after Steam, but Steam dosen't pick it up. I think I need to patch to a newer version maybe, as my copies pre-date Steam by a long way. But how would I make Steam run it?

Open steam, click the games tab at the top. Click the "Activate a product on steam".
Click next, agree to the terms and enter the key to your HL1. It will then be in your games list. Dont install anything, it will download and be fully up to date and playable.
