changed cases ,first real build... go easy on me.

edit: pics on a few posts on this page
I just moved my system to a new case, changed video cards and added some drives...
[LIST]

Old (no pics, was lame)

Thermaltake M9 case *** this thing was tiny
700 watt OCZ psu
i-7 920 D0
DX58So (blech)
3 x 2gb OCZ gold series PC 128000 RAM
7200.12 1tb drive
pci express RAID controller (obviously not being used)
Prolimatech Megahelms with a scythe and antec fan setup push-pulling
gtx 260 896MB (meh)
at least 10 poorly placed fans with varying color LEDs
$5 modem I bought at a computer store (I get a lot of faxes)
Blu-ray burner with lightscribe (who uses one of these, anyways?)

O/S was dual booting vista x64 ultimate (blech again) and Windows 7 x64 build 7600 (ossim)

So low and behold, I find a new (ish) Antec 1200 on craigslist and talk the guy down to $100 with some extra fans and blah blah blah... that part isnt important

I'm speechless at how amazing this case is...

I added 2 500GB WD green drives to store music, videos, etc...
Changed to a Radeon 5850 card
took the antec fan off of the pull side of the Megahelms (according to this site having that fan so close to the rear case exhaust fan was taking away from its airflow anyways)
got rid of all the extra fans except a pci slot fan above the PSU running as an exhaust fan to vacate the heat coming off of the PSU. Do I really need this?
Hid every wire possible/my concept of wire management

There seems to be a 10* drop in temp across every sensor, however I really didnt take a lot of benchmarks before, and my apartment could chill meat right now.

My MOBO wont POST with the quick and dirty way to 4.0ghz right now, that's kind of weak sauce. Advice with this MOBO?

Screens:

24" Acer 243B monitor at 1920x1200
23" Dell display port 1920x1080
46" Honeywell LCD HDTV

Other additions:
USB bluetooth
USB wireless N
2.4ghz media center keyboard/mouse setup.
Logitech 5.1 speakers (the $70 ones)
Mediagate IR Media Center Remote
Adesso 2.4ghz Media Center Keyboard

Feel free to critique and criticize this build... I ran out of like colored SATA cables which is why there is a mix of blue, red and black ones.

Pics to come when Defraggler gets done with my system drive and I can move this beast.

Well I'm not that surprised. The 1200 of one of the best, if not THE best, air-cooling cases out there.

As far as the mobo goes, you're right. The DX58 is bleh and if intend on overclocking, then maybe you should think about getting a new mobo. Either the Gigabyte UD3R or the eVGA x58 SLi are good options to think about. I personally use the latter and I haven't had nothing but good experiences with that board so far.

I am actively looking for a new mobo... Is it worth waiting for sata 6.0 and USB 3.0 mobos to come down in price? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131614 I almost bought this just to start from scratch...

Also looking for an SSD, but I dont know enough about them to know if it's worth it, or if TRIM will ever work in a RAID 0 setup.

Is the jump to 12gb RAM worth it?

There is no TRIM support as of now for SSD's in RAID 0. I also haven't heard of any info so far about support later on so...

6GB is plenty for the average user. Unless you are doing a lot VM's or Photoshop it's not really necessary.

5 more pics...

#1 my Acer C314 Tablet PC, it's a real beast at 2.0ghz with 2gb ddr ram and integrated graphics.
#2 trying to get a pic of the wire management, it was hard to run those sata cables behind the mobo because of needing to route the mobo power around it.
#3 the other half of the office... 46" 1080 lcd hd tv running media center either via HDMI from this system, or there's a media center pc/home server I built sitting behind it.
#4 the case pulled out to show how it barely fits under the L desk.
#5 the helper I had for this build

5 more, sorry for cell phone pics, no functioning digital camera otherwise.

#1 case with the lights off and no flash, it's not annoyingly bright with everything turned off the best I can turn it off anyways.
#2 the case from the outside, can barely see wires...
#3 view of Megahalems
#4 another random pic
#5 tried to get the whole case in it.
