Picked up a Crown XTi 1002 for the bass section of my new DIY speakers. Powering my other speakers full range, it sounds pretty good too, but the fan noise is going to be an issue. Time for some mods.

Ya the XTI series has some loud fans had a few of them at one time generally when you have them in a rack behind a stage its not a problem but for home use it can be a bit much. Should be simple enough to get a good fan of egg that would be way quieter.

i had xti 1000 before, and the fans only spin up when it gets hot, which is when your music is loud and you cant hear the fans any ways.
 

oh and i picked up Emotiva XPA-3 today and and UMC-1 one last week.

 

 

 

 

 

i also just got my cousin into audio, he picked up tri12s and csi5 ,m40s , psw505 and pws110, denon AVR-3312CI  and he had a QSC amp from before he uses it to power the rti12s, hes family is telling him that he has lost his mind lol

Personally i would take a Macro Tech over basically any amp cause there so durable. The possessing in the XTI and other amps with DSP is great if you don't have any other way to do system possessing but for me i use an outboard system processor so having DSP in the amp is basically a waste of money. I do have some QSC gear but i find there prices a little high most of what i have i got used so it was a fair bit cheaper. Ether way i don't see myself buying any amps for a while since im migrating all my systems to Meyer and all there equipment is powered.

i'm thinking about my next upgrade to be UMC-200.... after all the issues ive heard over the UMC-1 why didnt you grab the new version or was it a price thing?

nothing fancy just bought some replacement pads for my AKG k701's, the pads on them right now are incredibly dirty and i'd much rather buy new pads over trying to wash them, ill wait until they arrive before i resolder a broken connection.
