And the preamps - do you play guitar/have one you can plug in with an amp sim or two just to check the noise when paired with a high gain sim like TH2 etc?

Haven't got the chance to test it out properly yet. Still waiting on my cables but it'll be used to record my Roland TD-9 electric kit.

However, when I first installed it, EVERY program I opened would hang and say "Not responding". After about an hour, I plugged the card into a front USB port and everything worked fine after installation and I've now moved the cable to a back port.

Awesome man, you recording audio directly from the kit? Make sure you get it connected via midi and try out some of those drum libraries like BFD/Superior Drummer etc, totally blow the stock sounds away.

Yeah got myself Cubase and EZDrummer. Doubt I'll use the stock Roland sounds. Also got AmpliTube to dabble in guitar work but it's mainly for my session drumming.

Think I'll be getting the Alesis MKIIs as they're a lot cheaper than the Rokit 8s.

Also do augmenting the speaker level or the volume trim add distortion?

it increases the power to the speakers faster as you turn up the volume so you get to the point of clipping sooner....you will hear when this starts to occur though and will probably not do much listening that loud.

I am currently trying to level out my speakers for a flat response and will let you know where the settings wind up.

Hell of a price. If that was the 1712 that would have been an illegal transaction! Stolen goods!
