I would also check the Event 20/30 (sounds great i think but was way to big for my room)
Check these to:
Genelec 8030 and 8040

You should just go out and listen, there is so much good choice's and it will come down to your own personal taste.

im working with around $500 the a5x is great sounding but about x2 my budget.

the 20/30's are also out of my price range with being $370 each

and the genelecs... hahahahah same as the a5x

and the sonic sense is the closest im going to get to demoing monitors myself since i live 4 hours from any place that has a selection.

Hmm the 20/30 are rather cheap here then compared to US, thats a first lol.

You can get the A5X for 399$ on discounts at times i think.

Cheap stuff that i found rather good for the price is:

- Alesis M1 Active 520 Studio Monitor
- Samson Resolv SE8 Studio Monitor
- M-Audio M3-8 Studio Monitor

Not bad for the price IMO but maybe a bit beneath your budget/standards

When i look at sonic sence website in a smaller budget i would definetly listen to these:

I just purchased a pair of Dynaudio X32 Floorstanders. I'll post pics in my living room once I pick them up either tomorrow or the day after. I'm still shopping around for an amp!

Here are pics from Dynaudio:

I'd get something like an Emotiva XPA-2 or XPA-5 if you intend to expand your setup in the future, and a UMC-200 as pre/pro, or one of the lower end Marantz model receivers.

Would something like the Marantz SR6008 be suitable? I'm aware that the X32's 4 ohm speakers, and the specifications say 110W (0.08% @ 8 Ohm), 150W (0.7% @ 6 Ohm). I auditioned the X32 with a variety of amps ranging from 60-150 wpc.

One of the things I'm looking for is an amp/receiver with multiple HDMI inputs. It's not a deal-breaker, but a huge plus for me, due to my media consumption habits.

the marantz would likely drive them and ONLY them if you were to add anything to that amp it would start craping out on ya. your better off with the emotiva since they are designed for 4 ohm loads.

i just re read his post he is telling you to use the marantz reciever as the pre amp.

I'm considering a sub and center speaker at some point, but I'm not too serious about surround. I don't have the living environment for surround at the moment.

What are the best options you would recommend in the $1000-1500 range that can handle the load and possibly the future sub and center speaker and support HDMI input and video passthrough?
