The Klipsch was too big for the room I wanted, it was super boomy. Member on here that has been helping me in another thread just happened to have a Polk PSW10 and he drove up to make an even trade.

Having a sub really lets these speakers shine since they're not trying to keep up with the base now ^__^

The reason sounds boomy is because placement or low quality. And with a Klipsch sub it definitely is not a quality issue. So there is a very easy placement test for a Sub if you place it right where your head will be then moving your head around in the different places where the sub will be placed by crawling around on the floor listening to a heavy bass track. What you are listening for is boominess, when you hear the boominess you know that is not where you do not want to place the sub. The reason this works and how it works is the way sound travels to the place of your listening and in the space you are listening. Anyway look it up!

Apparently I never posted the pictures that sub above were accompaning.

Behold, Audioengine P4 passive bookshelf speakers.

It was a trip for sure. This was the box, that was in another box that was shipped inside of another box.

WHASSAT!?

Screw just using thin foam to send to protect them, they come in felt bags. Wonder how much extra that added to their price.

Mediabridge cabling and Monoprice Bananer plugs

Hnnngggggggggg They sound so damn good. I had to take a monitor off of my desk to fit the bookshelves but....I'm enjoying the sound more than I am having a 2nd screen.

All in all, they're wonderful to levels of amazing. Directly out of the box I was like god these sound muddy, but obviously you gotta get them playing for a bit. Within the first couple hours they really opened up. The highs are crystal clear and the mids...oh god the mids. They really did a great job here. Even cranking the speakers up the highs refuse to break up and struggle. They're being powered by my Topping VX1 and even half volume is way too much for me. These suckers get loud and get loud quick all while keeping their sound in tact.

The con, is as with most any bookshelf speakers, the low end just isn't there. It's a little muddy for what's there which I was expecting. It's present but isn't really punchy or solid. Adding a sub though, oh wow these things opened up to all new levels.

Picked up a Yamaha RX-V1 and Sansui G9000 for FREE biggrin.gif Haven't had the chance to listen to the Sansui yet but the RX-V1 sounds amazing as a stereo amplifier. I had a yamaha A-s2000 awhile back but had to sell it due to some financial issues. It's nice to listen to my speakers again.

those are some nice things for free... you might want to check the dc offsets on them before risking any nice speakers.. but i am a fan of yamaha and that G9000 is a beast... i think 160~WPC worth a fair bit actually. however ATM I wouldn't want to move either of those things as I have screw up my shoulder ... I am sort of jealous but since I got a Onkyo Integra Stack (M5030 / P3030 T4087 / EQ35) for free awhile ago 1.5~ years I guess I can't complain too much.

Thanks, it actually belonged to my cousin who collected audio equipment. I wouldn't call him an audiophile, just someone who had a hoarding disorder and really enjoyed showing off. Long story short, he got kicked out of his mom's place and his older brother said I could take home what he left behind. So I have to admit, it's not really mine to keep, unless he forgets about it and never ask for it back. He took most of his "better" amps and speakers with him. And yes, the weight of these amps are no joke.

And also thanks for the heads up on the dc offset... I had no idea about that, so far I've only listened to the yammy's. The sansui haven't been even plugged in yet.

And that Onkyo stack is nice. smile.gif I've always loved amps with those big meters on the front. A very cool looking amp indeed.
