I'm very much aware of that, I actually removed the front panel audio cable the second I got my case. biggrin.gif

They might as well call it an emi antenna.

Picked up some Sennheiser HD 558s for my HTC One today at Best Buy, price matched Amazon, $110.. Gonna order a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable for them. No I'm not using them in public, just when im walking around the house doing various things I wanted something i could listen to music on that were easier to drive than my HD280s (Which my phone simply cannot drive), Looked at a bunch of options but just nothing fits as well or anything as the 558s, Also going to wager not many other cans are going to beat them, At least the ones I tried really didnt (The Bowers and Wilkins P7s i demod on my phone were nice, lovely, and $400, And they were not as good to me... The Sennheiser Momentums werent as comfortable, the VModas were very nicely made but again, not too comfortable, and the P7s were the only ones that worked for me to listen to my own stuff -_-)

Only problem, after listening to them on my phone (My phone is very..particular..about its headphones..) I decided to plug them into my PC and break them in a bit with some gaming and music work and now I basically want to upgrade my lovely PC350s (Which rock for the record..) to the Game ONEs (Basically HD558s with integrated microphone)

Hmn.. or maybe I should get some HD598s for my desktop and some form of external desktop microphone...

ANYWAYS THE 558s... Really love them, Second pair of open cans after my Grado SR125s, I personally prefer how these sound so far, the Grados are awesome but a bit bright and fatiguing to listen to sometimes and their sound doesnt work with every track i pump through them, the 558s are also much more comfortable and secure on my head.

Not that you didn't make an awesome upgrade but you don't need anything special to run the 280 cans :| any phone could run those.

Also stick with the 558 and just do the foam strip mod on them to give the sound of the 598 if you want them.

For external mic, unless you want one of those on the desk mics, pretty much the majority of us go with ModMic

I got one for my HD 598

I ended up nabbing the Game Ones just now actually. Had some Best Buy gift cards, So meh. I prefer an integrated microphone and i do like the "Raise the mic to mute" ability... Figure it like this, a pair of the 598s and a -good- mic are likely equal to the cost of the Game Ones (Paid a hair over $200.. the 598s are $160 at Amazon right now)

Game Ones arent a PERFECT replica of the 558s, More low end in them, Thats fine, Sounds great for games, AWESOME positioning too... VERY happy with them

And the 280s are awesome i just prefer open most of the time, lighter on the head and such. The 280s just mix badly with my -phone- its not JUST the impedence i believe it also has to do with the processing, the HD280s as well as the MDR7506s are both very shrill and dont sound anywhere near "good", Tried EQ adjustments and i just cant get them to sound nice on my phone frown.gif Tablet? fine, Laptop? fine, Desktop with amped card, well obviously awesome! But my phone..eh.. Not exactly sure what it is, its just something with the HTC One M7 Cause I've owned 2 of them (Had to warranty exchange my first one) Just something about the phone

And its just this phone, the 280s rocked on my old GNex and my iPhones... Something about the One's audio crap.. Ah well

Decided to test it out yesterday evening, didn't work, spend well over an hour troubleshooting it, but it seems to be a dud. Bummer...thumbsdownsmileyanim.gif
