How are you liking the Motion 4's, Chunky-Bunker?

I've always liked the ML sound, but price and size put them in the "Never gonna happen" category. Then the Motions came out, and I've been thinking they would make a great upgrade from my current speakers (a pair of Klipsch Quintets <- yes, I know, nothing to shout home about, but they do sound good and have a huge WAF! thumb.gif ) sometime in the future. The Klipschs been going strong for awhile now, but they can't last forever, right?

I've got to say, at first, I wasn't blown away, but after the initial burn-in period, they're really starting to show their true colors. I have a VERY modest set up, but I figured the first thing that needed upgraded was the speakers. I upgraded from a pair of worn-out Fishers from about 23 years ago. I just got finished watching Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and I have to say, they seriously impressed me. The soundstage on them is immense compared to what I'm used to, and the tonality is incredible.

And all of this being powered by an old JVC with 50 wpc into 8 ohms. I can only imagine what they would sound like with 150 wpc into 4 ohms. biggrin.gif

Hey,

This wasn't exactly today, but it is recent. I picked up an older Denon AVR1803 Receiver that was in mint condition and a Paradigm PW2200 12" sub woofer. This was over the past couple months.

Yesterday I just picked up a pair of Aperion Audio Intimus 5B's to replace my 25-year old JVC PAs.

The speakers will arrive on the 18th or so, so I'll post up some pics then. I'm pretty excited. And I know the receiver is overkill for a 2.1 system, but I wanted a sub-out so I can crank the bass.

My roommates hate me for the sub...they don't know about the speakers yet tongue.gif.

I got a yamaha as500 to replace my (sadly) broken arcam delta 90. It is older than me though, bless it.

So far, it's excellent. It still needs to burn in too.

I owned that receiver for a while. It's great for small room setups.

Hey, Boyboyd. How is the A-S500? I've been thinking about it non-stop ever since I got my Motion 4's. From what I've heard, it's a monster amp. What do you have it paired with right now?

It's fantastic, excellent value for money (i paid £250). I have it matches with a pair of Kef Q5s. It's noticeably... tighter than my old amp which was an arcam delta 90 (way old), and it's not too harsh like some of the reviews say.

I think Imma get an Harmon kardon 3490 to power the magnepan mmg. Does anyone have any other suggestions on perhaps a different amp that can deliver a steady 4 ohms at reasonable wattage?

The 3490 will probably be your best bet, particularly at that price.
