iMac with Intel Core Duo runs windows - Page 2

I got all excited about quad-booting, then about put my fist through my monitor when I found out that OSX for X86 needs SSE2 or SSE3. That means no Athlon XP.

Dosn't mean I'm not gonna try it anyway.

One question,Since this is overclock.net,which centers upon overclocking in general,Can these macs be overclocked? Also, are macs decent with poressing power when it comes to running other operating systems such as windows and linux. So basically,Does mac run windows with the same power it would OSX?I dont know about macs, but this has sparked and interest

They are going to be essentially the same as a PC bought at your local computer store only they run osX instead of xp. I doubt very seriously that Jobs will let you overclock any of his products. I read somewhere that the chipset on the mobo is the same as any other pc you would buy from any other computer vendor, so theoretically they will have locked bios ie., no changing frquencies or what have you.

The windows emulators they have now for osX are teh suck. They are slow and just basically crap out. What these new intel based macs will be able to have the actual windows installed, so you basically if you buy a new mac, you are paying of the os.

and as far as linux is concerned, I have no idea. I assume you can put linux on there if you can put windows but we won't find out until someone gets their hands on one.
