improving quality on a x1600xt

Thread Starter
my powercolor x1600xt has very high clocks, but performance isnt great.
600Mhz core
1400Mhz mem

due to 128bit mem and only 12pipes.
atitool beta 10 not helping

can i UNLOCK more pipes with BIOS? if so how?
so will the omega drivers improve perfomance?

or should i just get another card?

I don't believe that the 1600xt is unlockable. Also the omega drivers may give you better performance but not substantial.

well, the x1600 is basically just a new revision of the x700... so you're not gonna be able to improve upon it too much unless you have the cash to upgrade to a totally new card

You could pick up a 7800GT for about $280 which would be the best bet I think. You could also get a x800GTO2 for about $220 and flash it to an X850XTPE which costs nothing and gives you a $400 card. Great card IMO, talk to Burn or Sphere, Burn modded his and I'm sure he'd help you out.

Good luck

I'd go with the 7800GT as it has the newest core of all the cards you listed and should perform really will for you.

actually I'd say it's more of a revision of the x600xt, x600xt-x1600xt, x700xt-x1700xt.
