well i have no idea how I could mod the board to sli. And i thought it was already sli. Or is there a difference between an sli board and a sli capable board?

Yes you can still mod the board but you have to take off some epoxy supposedly and even I wont do that one >_> <~~ is for the ultra-D) the SLI-D and DR are pretty muchly the same thing I think the R just has stuff placed differently...

And if he dont like to OC, thats exactly why hes telling you to get a gigabyte board, i cant stand those computer shop guys THEYRE supposed to HELP the person coming in NOT rip them off...fook him. >.<!

I think there might be more to it than that. I wonde how hard it actually is to mod it to sli. Is there anyother benefit to having the sli-d instead of the ultra?

destroying my board again . That damn neon light controller fried my hopes and dreams. Oh well, xiode double shipped my order and now i have two sets of neons. So final question. Spend 140 on the ultra-d and possibly mod it and break my board or get the sli-d and dont worry about it.

And also, are all the bioses the same. As in do they have the same overclocking possibility?

stupid dfi street isn't workign for me right now.

Those people don't want to help the customer, they want the customer to help them by buying their product. It's a simple sales technique used by many sellers. Obviously this shop doesn't seem to sell DFI so why would he recommend a product he does not have in stock. If a customer walks in, YOU want his business, not tell him/her to take their business else where.
Do not ask a sales person for their advice. That just means you're buying something that they WANT you to buy, not what you WANNA buy.
Do your own homework, research, read and figure out what product suits you best.

With that said, I just purchased a DFI LP ultra-D board and this was my first time with DFI (though i have been overclocking for a while with other boards). I didn't even read any manuals/tutorials and figured out DFI...not that hard.

I would also recommend the same board. Unless you're planning on going for SLI in the near future...than get the DFI SLI boards.

I think the 2 pci-x slots are there just because. It's a mass production board so it's probably less money to stick on the second pci-x slot then to make NEW boards with no slot and probably rearange stuff.

Anyone have a guide to the mod?

wel, ive been driving around all day trying to find dfi boards. I found one at a comp store that was having a sale and was selling the ultra-d for 119.99 but of course they only had one in stock and couldn't find it at all.

I wanted to get an sli board just because i would like to have the option of upgrading, even if i never will. The farthest ill probably ever go within the next two years is having 2 6800 gt's. So Im thinking about the ulta d if somoene can find the guilde on how to mod it to sli. Or then just the sli-d or dr. I really wish i could find the difference between the two d and dr boards.

The K8NXP SLI is a good board to have! i Have and im able to reach 3ghz on my 3700 which is stable but dont have efficient cooling so now im 2.8 until i can afford water cooling.

Theres some reviews with the gigabyte just a fraction behind, and for the price range difference id go with the Gigabyte
