I am confused,You are saying you fold,Encode video ? And burn brun DVD disks all at the same time on a single core while surfing and or chatting on MSN ? ?

I agree the system can do all that BUT if you typed a message into an IM box the message would need to wait on CPU cycles before it appeared for you to read .And surfing the net would be like selecting a web page from hell because it will not open untill cpu cycles are allocated to it.

Or maybe I am reading wrong what it is you are claiming you do on a single core ?

I guess I heard wrong, I heard that Hyper Threading and HTT were pretty much the same thing. CURSE THE LIAR WHO SAID THAT!!!
Either way, I run limewire, bearshare, aim, watch DVDs, pokerroom, norton, internet, and microsoft anti spyware on my multi display system and I have NEVER had lagging problems, and I have a sempron for christs sake

Thats because the majority of what you list are simple ideling programs and or chat like programs needing almost no cpu time.Norton takes little CPU cycles as does a firewall, antispy programs or web browsers or browser type apps like limewire,bearshare..

Are you multi tasking ? Sure you are.but with apps that really use littl cpu power to run any way . .

That single core users can do in a sutuation like that is set the priority of folding or encoding to low in task manager. That way, when an IM program or browser needs a few cycles, it gets them instantly and will not make the encode or folding any noticeable ammount slower.
