Your GPU is actually safe up to about 100c. Keeping it under 70c would just increase it's life expectancy. GPUs can take a lot of heat, when you overclock your GPU just keep an eye out for artifacts and you should be fine.

Ya gpus CAN take a lot of heat but doesnt mean they should
If your gpu is getting to 100'c then you should be looking into some cooling.
