ATTN: Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe owners - Page 2

In one of my other systems I have a Vantec Iceberq copper on my A8N-SLI DLX's chipset. Works btter than stock and short enough to allow me to run SLI still.

I also use the same cooler on my DFI motherboard.

I have an Iceberq 4 Pro that I originally bought for a GeForce 4, anyone know if it'll fit on my A8N-E? It would look pretty neat since it has blue LEDs in it.

Yiffy, is the Iceberq 4 Pro physically the same size as the regular Iceberq? If it's larger, it won't fit because there is only about 1mm space between the original Iceberq and the fan header for the chipset.

I dunno, that's why I asked... guess there's only one way to find out. I'm more worried about the holes lining up.

well both versions of the Asus cooler have small fans that blow downward accross the chipset.
the first version used a 30 or 35mm fan and had a more beefy heatsink. it mounted at 90 degree angles to the edges of the board.
the second version uses a 40mm fan and mounts diagonally (45 degree angles) and has less of a heatsink due to the larger fan.

My board came with the original cooler and it made a terrible noise... and would spin at vary different speeds which made me nervous especially hearing about other people's failing. I replaced it after about a month
the second version I got from Asus after calling them and it died after 24 hours of installing it.

After about 9 mos then the wailing then silence. Its 8oz (1/2lb!) of silent chipset cooler. Apparently there is a well known failure issue with the stock ones-dont know about the revised type though. Ive had no problems with this soloution. Only downside was I had to remove the mobo to install it and its $35
BTW it is one TIGHT fit between those 2 6800GTs
The Tt A1899 that came out after I bought the Swifty looks intresting and is about half the price

I just want to make sure I understand you correctly. You have the swiftech cooler like this:

Ok, mines been running for 9 months now. Don't know if its about to go out or anything but it is the loudest fan in my case so I want to replace it now. Recommendations for its replacement anyone? Note: it has to be short enough to fit below my 6600GT with the Arctic Cooling NV6 silencer. The stock cooler is about flush with the bottom of the NV6 cooler fan.
