I use a dual proc mac g5 here at work. I like the OS alot, think its pretty stable. As far as performance goes...either work skimped on the hardware, or I'm spoiled, cause I am NOT impressed.

Duall 2.0 GHz, 2gigs RAM, 9800 Pro...

Wife actually has a g4 she's been asking me since early this yr if i can buy her power g5 i said nope cuz the price is to high. but now this new iMAC g5 with dual processor came out and she wants it. i was thinking its much better than the power g5 since it has more features. yeah i know power g5 is better but im looking at features itself.

The new iMacs are awesome, simply put. OSX Tiger is my favorite of all of the operating systems I have used (MS Dos, Windows 95/98/NT/ME/XP, OSX Panther/Tiger, Ubuntu Linux Hoary Hedgehog/Breezybadger) simply because it is so slick looking and "smooth" even if it is a bit slower than XP (especially while booting up! The dual 2.0GHz Powermac G5s at my school take 3-5 minutes to fully boot up and they have 8GB of RAM!) I would definitely get the 20in iMac if you can, but the 17in is plenty for anyone's needs

Imacs are awesome, especially the new intel ones..

I bought the cheapest Ibook G4 12 inch for Christmas and I am in love with it.

well you can't really compare them becuase they run completely different architectures and processes. AMD and Itel run x86 and macs do something else (well at least they used to, now they have intel chips in them.) But you can find some charts on apple.com that have the g5 compared to p4's. but for some reason the p4s always seem to loose..

Well if you are doing anything that is software dependent ie, recording music for concerts, photoshop, or what have you, definetley get a mac. That is their main purpose and is what they do best. Garage Band is very simple to use and is a very good at recording and composing different tracks. My dad got the 20" mac, he has used macs since the mac plus came out, and he has never been so happy with a computer.
